Vili Pääkkö is a sound-based artist working mainly in the fields of contemporary performing arts and music. Vili holds a bachelors and a masters degree in sound design from the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki.

In sound Vili is forever interested in abject, feelings of transcendence and the haptic sensibilities of sound as an immaterial material.

In life Vili is currently (06/2024) interested in the sacred, early 2000’s music that sound like baggy camo-pants, saliva, finding beauty in the most boring nature soundscapes, and swimming in the Baltic Sea.

Vili has worked mainly in Helsinki with such institutions as YLE (Finnish Broadcasting Company), Finnish National Theatre, Viirus Theatre with sound designs also audible in London Contemporary Dance School, Tictac Arts Centre Brussels and HZT Berlin (extensive cv)

In art-speak Vili is interested in hyperreality, metamodernity and making art that is true to the experience of living a consciousness expanded by the internet.

In less-artsy but still art-related environments Vili has worked for example as a technical producer, mixing engineer and a dubbing director, engineer and editor.

Vili is an artist with sound and thinking and talking as their main mediumand therefore interested in collaboration - not working as a classical designer who fullfills the ideas of Someone.

Vili dreams of art, living on an island, creating on a train and staring in to the eyes of another
